The Tap Root is The Right People

So what is the tap root of why organizations consistently struggle to execute well? It’s the people…first who, then what! Jim Collins, in his overwhelming best-seller Good to Great, validates this long-held belief. In fact, all the major sources of influence point to this reality.

The belief translates into action for the executive team to first get the right people on the bus, the wrong people off the bus, and then get the right people in the right seats. At Whitecap, we say right people – right roles.

We believe that each organization has a change budget which in many cases has a lower balance than the fiscal budget. The organization’s change budget is the sum total of each person’s capacity to absorb more change.

Whitecap works with leadership to identify the organization’s capacity to make a given change happen. We then work to build the needed capacity so that the newly developed capacity can be released to improve the actual running of the organization.

We also believe that “the largest source of energy an organization has is its ability to tap the discretionary energy of the people that surround it”, (Bob Winter). This includes customers, suppliers, owners, management, and employees. We build Execution Capacity (EC) within your people, not just come in and fish in your waters and then leave without having deposited the improvements to one’s KSA (Knowledge, Skill, Attitude) The fact is, people learn according to their KSA and personal KSA is only as effective as the organizational environment that it lives in will let it be. Finally, most organizations fail to look at the fact that people learn differently, perform best in different ways for different reasons.
